Meet Angie Stirland

Angela Stirland, known to many as Angie, is a highly respected teacher of movement and the founder of The Stirland Approach™️, a unique movement method that has helped countless individuals improve the way their body moves.

With over 30 years in the movement and wellbeing space, Angie has worked with a wide range of people, from complete beginners to performance-focused clients. Her background in sports, including gymnastics, volleyball, BMX racing and trampolining along with health and fitness and training as a Pilates teacher and, it all deepened her interest in movement mechanics.

Why The Stirland Approach exists

Angie’s work began with a simple observation. Many people train hard, stretch often, or try different class styles, yet still feel stiff, limited, or stuck in the same patterns. Over time, Angie became increasingly focused on the mechanics underneath movement, how the skeleton organises itself, and what changes when people learn the foundations properly.

The Stirland Approach grew from years of coaching, refining, and studying real client movement patterns, turning complex ideas into a method that feels clear, practical, and repeatable.

What makes it different to yoga or pilates?

The Stirland Approach is not a style of class, it’s a method. Sessions are built around principles that stay consistent, so you are not starting from scratch each week.

The focus is on movement quality, skeletal organisation, and functional patterns that carry into daily life and sport.

The Stirland Approach is different:

  • Move with more ease and control

  • Improve mobility and confidence in your body

  • Support recovery from recurring niggles

  • Build stronger foundations for training and performance
